Flood Warnings Issued As UK Braced For Heavy Rainfall

As weather forecasts predict a months rainfall in 24 hours, experts are warning of floods in many parts of the UK.

The Environment Agency has urged 85 communities in England and Wales - mainly in the east and north-east of England - to be vigilant.

It warns flooding could be the worst of the year so far and heavy rain has already begun to hit parts of East Anglia and the East Midlands.

An amber warning urging people to "be prepared" has been issued by the Met Office.

Two bands of heavy rain are expected to hit on Friday and early Saturday, with transport links and properties potentially affected.

Yorkshire, the North East, the Midlands, East Anglia and the northern half of Wales are expected to bear the brunt of the downpours.
