ENERGY EFFICIENCY & CARBON EMISSION REDUCTION
- Low Energy Lighting - utilising highly efficient linear and compact fluorescent lamps with presence detection and daylight control.
- LED lighting will be considered wherever possible to reduce energy and maintenance.
- High efficiency condensing and heat pump boilers in conjunction with underfloor heating to provide high comfort, low energy systems.
- Heat recovery will be incorporated into ventilation systems to extract heat from exhaust air and pre-heat incoming fresh air.
- Energy Performance CAD 21 are accredited to produce energy performance certificates (EPC's).
- Instantaneous domestic hot water heating to reduce standing loss.
- High level of thermal insulation to pipework and plant to reduce heat losses.
- The feasibility of utilising ground source heat pumps, solar panels, photovoltaics, wind turbines and combined heat and power systems.
- Solar reflectance, shading and building orientation carefully considered to reduce thermal loads.
- Maximisation of natural ventilation with consideration given to overnight free cooling, utilising the building mass to store lower temperatures and offset heat gains during the day.
BREEAM - CAD 21 are accredited by the BRE to carry out BREEAM assessments and certifications.

SUSTAINABILITY
- Rainwater harvesting and grey water recovery systems investigated and incorporated where possible to reduce water consumption.
- Locally produced plant and equipment encouraged to reduce transport carbon impact.
- The use of recyclable materials encouraged and hazardous materials such as CFC's will be excluded.
- Washable filters rather than disposable units will be incorporated to prevent waste.
WHOLE LIFE CYCLE COSTING
With the backing of our clients, systems will be selected on whole life costing rather than purely capital cost to reduce the impact of the building on the environment over a fixed minimum whole life period.
